1) Hemp Farming Gets Support From NC House Panel
Industrial hemp production could become legal under a bill that cleared the N.C. House Rules Committee on Monday.

The hemp bill replaced Senate Bill 313 – which originally dealt with license plates – as a last-minute addition to the legislative calendar. Hemp production is currently banned in North Carolina, but if the bill gets through the House and Senate, an appointed N.C. Industrial Hemp Commission would oversee a pilot program.

2) Local Hemp Processing Plant Nearly
A 70,000-square-foot multipurpose industrial hemp processing plant on 9 acres of land located in Spring Hope could be operational by the end of October or early November.

Industrial Hemp Manufacturing, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hemp Inc. in Las Vegas, Nev., is owned by CEO Bruce Perlowin. He said the Spring Hope facility is 75 percent complete and in the final stages of being fully reassembled.
